This is honestly embarrassing. Medly, with each update, has become more and more unstable. Each update brings in bugs that make it even more of an unpleasant experience. And with the most recent update, the one that brought in the Medly Membership, some of my folders won’t even open anymore. I click on them, and they don’t work. Other times, when I’m on the board, the sections won’t even show up. This, as well as the app not even fully displaying on my phone, instead clipping through the top of the screen, was not here before the membership update. All this isn’t even mentioning the fact that a previous update HEAVILY weakened the sounds of the instruments “Saw”, “square”, “harmony”, “overdrive”, and for the electric guitars in the “Rock” pack, “clean”, “muted”, driven”, “distorted”, “American”, and “modern”. And to add insult to injury, Medly even refuses to allow users keep the old sound fonts alongside the new ones that were added. So essentially, they removed the old sounds that many users enjoyed, and replaced them with weaker sounding ones with no option to use the previous sounds. And the fact that I’ve tried contacting their email, which was provided under “Feedback”, only to get no response, does not help. On top of all that, despite the fact that Medly told users that when purchasing the “Band Pack”, all instruments that were later added to Medly would be added to the Band Pack for no extra charge, they later added the “Master Pack”, which, while bringing in 30 new instruments, did not add to the Band Pack at all like was promised, and was instead a separate pack that had to be purchased for even more money. So, they’ve already broken their promise once. Okay, I can forgive them for that. But then, they stepped on my foot again, by adding in the “Medly Membership”, a subscription service, which, for $34.99 a year, allows you to access 190 new instruments. This sounds good at first, but the problems start to show right away. First, while there is a two month free trial, this service is still THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS. And that’s not even adding in the tax. Not only that, but they’re asking you for money EVERY YEAR. And you may be okay with that. Perhaps $34.99 isn’t that much, especially since you’re only paying once a year. But remember, this is all despite the fact that they’ve ALREADY asked us for our cash with the Master Pack, AFTER telling us that we’d be receiving EVERY subsequent instrument FOR FREE after purchasing the Band Pack. So, not only did they break their promise once; they did it twice. And this time, they want us to KEEP paying them. After breaking their promise twice, who knows how long it is until they add in ANOTHER pack and ask us for our money once more. So, in short, Medly continues to try to squeeze as much money from their customers as possible, just so they can use more features of their buggy, broken app, after already promising us those features for free a few years back. And any attempts to contact them about this issue are ignored. This is a problem, Medly. And it needs to be fixed.

  • Get this app.

This app is the best app ever. You can like totally make your own music. It’s not like a drum pad where you do their music. You can change the instrument. You can display as many as you want! You can even record your voice in it and sing to it. There are infinite possibilities. If you hate this app, it’s because of ads, or you are just weird. Or some of the instruments cost money. But those aren’t really actual reasons.

  • Subscription only

Only appears to offer subscription pricing for samples beyond the basic ones included for free. I could not find any options to just pay for the samples, despite these in app purchases currently being listed on the App Store and their website. It makes no sense (as a hobbyist) to have to spend $35 a year for this.

This is the most simple music app I have ever used, the tutorial tells me what to do and it’s easy to get back to it.

  • Great App

I truly love this app and it really does allow me to make great music easy. Even though my extensive knowledge of musical theory. However, there isn’t a library archive for each template song. This makes me sad because it would help me to combine the different parts of each template that I like.
