The Wacom is forgotten in my bottom drawer and hasn’t seen the light of day since I installed Astropad.” Erkki Alvenmod, photographer "Great, great, great. Need I say more?" - Sherri Nielsen “It’s a go! The latency is nonexistent compared to a Cintiq. "I levitated out of my seat when I saw Astropad, having frequently lusted after a Wacom Cintiq for years but unable to afford it. Thank you much for developing this breakthrough app." - Mark G. • WAS a great app but now foes not work.....

When Astropad first came out, it was awesome and it worked really well. However, with the new Apple iPad Pro (3rd ed) that just came out and the new Apple Pencil (2nd version), Astropad no longer works and no one from the company seems to be addressing this (as to when a new version for Apple Pencil support will be released). Support from Astropad is rather non-existent it seems. I still prefer the first version of Astropad- “it just worked”. Hopefully a fix is coming soon as I cannot use Astropad until it is updated.

  • A little expensive but a great app

I was really hesitant to buy this app after seeing the mixed reviews, but I went ahead and made the purchase and I’m glad I did. I’ve been using my iPad Pro as a drawing tablet for a little over a month on ProCreate, but I really wanted to use it on the computer similar to a Cintiq. After getting my first MacBook and this app, I finally got the chance. The first thing I tried was the WiFi mode since I don’t like being tethered to my computer if I can help it. Sadly, the mode is essentially unusable for me. As soon as I open the app it immediately just opens and refreshes the screen over and over and cannot connect. Once I switched to the usb mode, there were no issues whatsoever. Contrary to some of the reviews, I’ve experienced 0 lag at all upon switching to the connected mode. As soon as I draw it registers it seamlessly. Even when running numerous apps in the background I have experienced no lag. Keep in mind, I am using a pretty strong Mac and iPad so my experiences may not be universal. I have also not contacted their customer service as I’ve had no issues, so I can’t vouch for how helpful or not they are.

  • Worked really well and now barely works

At first this app worked great, but after a few days it became unusable because of how many glitches there were. I am extremely disappointed that I spent money on this and I can’t even use it anymore. Absolutely horrible.

  • Was great then not

I started using Astropad when it first came out. It was amazing. Then it wasn’t. They came out with essentially the same program but w features EVERYONE requested and charged $12 a month for it. This app barely works now. I recently updated the Mac vet and my iPad pro ver and now it won’t even connect. I get a message that says update to most current ver. That app can’t talk to computer. Problem is I have. Both are using most current ver. I paid for the studio for a few months and it is definitely not worth the money. This app was great...until they got greedy. Now it doesn’t work at all. Don’t buy either. Stay away from this greedy company
  • I like it… but…

It seems to do everything that it supposed to; But it works in conjunction with compatible app on your computer, and it when they become desynchronized, you have to upgrade both of them separately ! And because I’m kind of poor and I use Wi-Fi at the library, I never have my computer and my iPad with me at the same time, I either take my computer to Library or my iPad and apparently you have to re-sync these two applications simultaneously, so anyway the point is; that they no longer work… ! It seems to me that when they need an upgrade, you could upgrade either, & the next time you connect them, they’ll resync on their own ! ?
  • Don’t listen to the “they’ll woo you then lose you” rant...

This app works wonderfully and actually still supports 3rd party styli. Speaking on that though, why buy an app that is this good and precise to only dumb it down with a crappy stylus? Hell, I wouldn’t even use this with a 2018 iPad with an Apple Pencil. You’re defeating the purpose of it all. This app has served me great and keeps getting better. If they decide to do away with 3rd party styli then good, more time for programmers to make it even better. Also you don’t have to be from the 60s to know who Astro from the Jetsons is. Sounds like someone is just behind the times, “grandpa!”
