Description

Privacy is possible. Signal makes it easy. Using Signal, you can communicate instantly while avoiding SMS fees, create groups so that you can chat in real-time with all of your friends at once, and share media and other files with complete privacy. The server never has access to any of your communication and never stores any of your data. • Say Anything - Signal uses an advanced end-to-end encryption protocol that provides privacy for every message every time. • Open Source - Signal is Free and Open Source, enabling anyone to verify its security by auditing the code. Signal is the only private messenger that uses open source and peer-reviewed cryptographic protocols to keep your messages safe. • Be Yourself - Signal uses your existing phone number and address book. There are no separate logins, usernames, passwords, or PINs to manage or lose. • Group Chat - Signal allows you to create encrypted groups so that you can have private conversations with all of your friends at once. Not only are the messages encrypted, but the Signal server never has access to any group information like the membership list, group title, or group icon. • Fast - The Signal protocol is designed to operate in the most constrained environment possible. Messages are delivered quickly and reliably. • Speak Freely - Make crystal-clear voice and video calls to people who live across town, or across the ocean, with no long-distance charges. Used to be able to have this app have its own PIN. Now, they force it to be the same as your phone’s iOS PIN. Hello, iOS PINs are easily hacked in less than a few seconds. They just made this app totally useless by doing such. Beyond idiotic.
  • Good but unreliable

I downloaded this app a few weeks ago as an alternate to Allo since it’s going away.. And I have gotten so frustrated. Outgoing messages stick constantly. The video call feature does not connect properly. I really like the security features but the lag due to the freezing is too annoying. If they can fix the outgoing messages sticking problem, it would be a huge improvement.

  • No unique passcode on ios!!

Loved this app on android, but just discovered that on iOS you can't set a unique passcode for the app!! This is a huge vulnerability. Yes, thru give you the option to use touch iD or your phone pin to lock/umlock the app but that means anyone with access to my phone via my pin (i.e. Some family member or a good hacker) would then also have access to the app! So what's the point of all this amazing encryption if someone steals or uses my phone and can unlock the phone then they can unlock the app too!!! This is really dumb. Please fix this asap. Provide an option to use touchid OR SET A UNIQUE PASSCODE OR PASSPHRASE!! Need this ASAP or I'm switching apps.

Gave this app a 4 stars because it's awesome but still some improvements to be made. Is there any way of saving the conversations and downloading them in case we've changed phones and would risk losing conversations or media? Also, I've noticed these few days that messages take about 4-5 hours to reach a particular recipient? A bug perhaps?

We’ve been using Signal to communicate with our son who travels internationally in his job. We exchange 5-10 minute voice or text messages PRN to keep up with our respective lives and stay informed. It’s been a user friendly and convenient app. Just remember to “maintain pressure on the microphone icon to continue recording or nothing will record.

It will be really great if we can see others typing a message or not. It’s confusing....
