  • Update ruins everything

Aaptiv was great for its music-based workouts. Now, they’ve updated it to choose your music by genre. Sounds great, but the reality is that most workouts are specifically recorded to match the music in tempo, refer to the lyrics, or talk generally about the songs, so generic doesn’t work. Volume is mismatched, so the instructions can barely be heard over the new random playlists. And while some workouts still include the Aaptiv-curated playlist they were recorded with, that option is missing from many workouts, making a fair amount of their content now unusable. Will not be renewing my subscription, and will be shopping for a new workout app unless this disaster is fixed by the time my current subscription runs out.
  • Pause at your own risk

Don’t get me wrong, I love this app when it works. There’s a trainer for everyone, the variety is good, and it’s structured to suit the beginner to advanced athlete. But whatever you do, don’t pause the workout. There have been a couple times when I needed to pause—like to take a quick call or change the music when I’m using my own—and it seems like every time I do that I’ll finish my workout and it won’t log it, like I never resumed it and just quit. Momma didn’t raise no quitter, my friends, and a girl does not want to be called one once she’s gone through the whole 30 minute workout. The app has made some amazing advancements and improvements since I started using. You’d think they would have fixed this by now.
  • Bring back the original workout playlists!!

I’ve been an Aaptiv member for years (so long that I was a member for years when it was Skyfit!), so it’s really painful to give them such a low rating, but I am SO disappointed with the music change. I heavily use the outdoor running workouts, and almost all of the workouts are tied to the music (pickups, length of time at a certain pace; etc). Initially after the change we were able to use the original playlist, but now I cannot find it on any of my favorite workouts! It is so disconcerting to lose that sync, especially in something like running. I can see how this change might be ok for other types of workouts (strength training, walking, etc) but it is a major bummer. Thinking of trying out Peloton or another app with synced with playlists, but it is so hard to think about leaving the trainers I love. Please bring back the original playlists as an option on all workouts!

I hate having to pick music now. It was nice to jump on and find a fast workout. Now I have to find music too and the mucus no longer goes with work out so it not as motivating. For example today I was In the middle of a breakaway but music stopped

Whose ever idea it was to strip the original music out of workout should seriously be fired. Aaptiv hyped up this latest app release with reintroducing boxing, rowing and running programs. Is taking something away from customers and then giving it back to them later an upgrade? In any case, the experience is worse than when you started. I feel bad for your trainers. They are pretty talented and deserve better than this.
  • Terrible update

I love this app and use it all the time but the new music update is ruining it - the songs are boring, overly long, and don’t match with the instructors comments or the exertion level. I feel like the running programs were particularly hit, with most of my usual runs lacking the ability to use the original programming and loss of several of my favorite programs. I would be happier with a pay increase than keeping this update the way it is...
  • Most recent update ruined the app

I’ve been a subscriber for 3 years. The most recent update has ruined this app for me. It requires you to go in and turn off every workout. It requires you to choose you background music. I just want to be able to play the workout and move on after. I will not be renewing this year. Surely there are better, less high-maintenance apps out there.
  • Updated music stinks

All the other 1 star reviews are right, the updated app stinks. The music is no longer in sync with the trainers, their cues are often hard to hear or way too loud, and the trainers often reference lyrics or moments in the songs for motivation and they don’t align. Used to use this 4-5x a week but now I’ll switch to Apple Fitness or some other app that has more custom workouts. Won’t be renewing after my subscription is up; if I could get a refund I would as I will no longer use this app.
