Understand them when they're used in real-life situations 3. Be able to chat with other people There are many apps that do the translation bit, but only Memrise gets you to nail all three. Imagine learning how to say 'ça va!' in French but not having a clue what is said back to you. Or not being able to find the words to express how much you loved your dinner in a Portuguese restaurant. It's impossible to say you've really learned a language until really master those three skills. Try it for yourself, the first lesson is free. Once you get going, upgrade to a Pro Plan to unlock all our language courses. That's right! One Pro Plan, all languages. You'll also unlock Offline mode, so you can learn wherever you are, even without data or WiFi. • Learn both world languages and geek lingo

    By DaisukeSanada
Memrize is a nice mobile app that you can study different languages at any time of the day. On top of various world languages you can even study languages made for fantasy or science fiction series. I been studying Lang Belta since The Expanse came out and this app has been a big help.
  • Arabic Issues

    By JohnSolo7
When sentence that you need to build out of the words given the Arabic is placed left to right as opposed to the correct way right to left.
  • Almost wonderful...

THANK YOU DEVELOPERS FOR PROVIDING 🇵🇹EUROPEAN🇵🇹PORTUGUESE‼️ But I'm not planning a trip to the ZOO and don't need to identify elephants, giraffes, and monkeys. Cats and dogs, of course, but lions? It's not OZ. Perhaps there could be an option to skip learning certain words? And why am I having to spend so much time on things like "Washington D.C" and pizza, or my favorite - ZERO. How many times to I have to be asked how to SPELL ZERO when it's written the same in both English and Portuguese. I LOVE the native speakers (& that you include your own speaker as a back up, and that you can slow down the words!) but often the people sound like they're just repeating words, not actually making statements. If they're asking a question it should SOUND like a question, and they should LOOK like they're asking a question, especially since (at least in European Portuguese) the WORDING of a question is the SAME as it is for a STATEMENT. But I DO like that they've chosen people with different accents. Oddly enough it actually helps. And really... I'm not learning a language so I can translate for someone ELSE. It's more important for me to tell you "I" want a cup of coffee than it is for me to tell you that HE wants a cup of coffee. He can order HIS own cup of coffee. ;-) And could you make the "multiple choice" a bit harder? When you're asking if I like to drink "café" and only one of the choices contains the word café, it's a bit... Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of things I LIKE about this app. I have NO regrets that I paid to UPGRADE, but there are lot of things that could be improved. Big peeve, and this is for ALL language apps: for GOD'S sake why are you teaching me the INFORMAL form of "you" when I should be speaking the FORMAL form?! I'm not 80 years old, and I don't want to show up in a new country and speak down to 80% of the people in it!
  • Needs to consider typos

    By King Luswig IV
The app needs to recognize when an incorrect answer was likely caused by a typo, as it is too much time is wasted reviewing words you already know. For example, if a typed word is correct except for missing one letter you should be given an opportunity right there to correct it. There are other cases as well.

It’s helped me and my children learn!
  • Good, but one request

    By Jambake
Learning Mandarin Chinese and using Memrise to supplement, I really like the app and think it’s effective for memorizing phrases/vocabulary. It’s also nice to hear from real speakers instead of Siri-like voices, makes consuming content in the language a lot easier. The “difficult words” feature is a bit annoying though, it says if you get something wrong a few times it will go too difficult words - but in reality if you miss something once it goes to difficult words with no option to remove without playing the difficult words minigame. I missed one tap, so I got a word wrong - but I already know it well and was trying to practice quickly. Now the app is going to impose the difficult words feature on me and I can’t override it in any way.
  • So great and I’m super happy 😃

    By detective JJthe cat
This app is perfect for learning foreign languages and I do learn Spanish on a different app but I love this app because I was not expecting that you could actually learn a very very VERY language that happens to be my mom‘s language which is yoroba and I thought that I would never find an app that could teach me it but when I found this I was so happy that you could actually get some of it free which was so sweet of them and I’m so happy about that anyways I hope that this app really takes off because it’s so amazing and yeah it’s great for learning super foreign languages so I definitely recommend
