This app has been refined considerably since I wrote a review some time ago. It has facilities for extending battery life on iPhone. It is easy to start and pause track recording in the field. I use the app for track logging and subsequent photo correlation with DigiKam (unrelated product). It starts and stops easily with Apple Watch. Only shortcoming which the (very responsive) developer is working on is to have the map scale bars display in standard units of measure. While I have the app set up for international use (SI), the map scale bars insist on odd imperial units (feet, miles &c.). Keep up the Excellent work!

Since this is a paid app one would think you could download offline maps since it’s pretty basic to do so and free from google. Nope they charge for the basic app which you can easily find a free app to do the same thing as this and then try to sucker you into a subscription to get the offline maps.

There are better apps out there.
  • GPS track is off in China

I have used this app for a year and was very satisfied with its functions. I recently went to China and found the GPS track this app recorded is way off. The track is 200 meter off to the west and 200 meter off to the north from actual locations. I have another app that recorded correct tracks. My friend also have this app and have similar problems. After I came back to the US, the track-off problem is gone.

This is one of those “grown up” apps that you can tell was built by professionals that truly know their way around Swift/iOS. This is as close to a “Military Grade” iOS app as you are going to find. I use this app all of the time, which is the best measure of a good app.

Used to be reliable but lately it stops tracking without warning. Seems to happen anytime I stop for awhile, like if I eat lunch.

This is the best app I’ve purchased. We use it kayaking and have all our data & breadcrumb trails to review afterwards. I like that part more than the paddling.
