  • 127% CPU Usage

I really had no issue with Evernote, until I noticed my 12 Core M2 Pro was being taxed at over 100% processor utilization. i've seen some say it's only on one core, but the 16" laptop heated up and was not happy. If you can't engineer a notes app that can't be efficient, I'm not going to bother using it.
  • Still the Best

I never review things, but the low reviews for Evernote annoy me. I've been an user for many years. I was on the free version until I had to upgrade and have never regretted moving to paid. I've explored many alternatives, and still Evernote is the best for note taking options, attachments, search capabilities, sharing notes, and publishing notes to share publically. Notion is the only competitor that comes close and there's just too many security issues with them as of Jan 2023 to make me willing to even consider a move.
  • Abandoned the desktop version because it won't sync

I've used Evernote since 2015 and everything was rosy until the past year when I started to get duplicate notes. Now I'm realizing my desktop app isn't syncing at all. I'll try using just the web-based version the app on my phone and see what happens. Very sad and frustrating. Like losing an old friend.
  • Worthless

Worthless if you upgrade. The app will NOT let you unsync old devices. WASTE of time and not worth what they charge. STAY AWAY!
  • No support for a failed upgrade!

TL;DR: There is no way to contact a human--via phone or even email--unless you pay for the upgrade. And, if you have an issue with the upgrade, you're out of luck. Story: I have been using this on my phone for a few years and have liked it. The UI is a bit unintuitive, and the dictation is not great, but it's been pretty solid. I toyed with the idea of upgrading, but kept putting it off. Then, I decided to try using it on my MacBook, so I downloaded it. I thought I would need to upgrade so I could use both laptop and phone (forgot an old phone was still connected to the account), so I paid the sale price and upgraded... or so I thought. The upgrade never showed up on either my phone or my laptop (after hours, not minutes, of waiting, though it showed up on my bank account right away). I tried contacting them to figure it out, but there is no way to contact a human--via phone or even email--if you have an issue. Nowhere to offer feedback, except here. Not even one of those annoying chatbots. How do they expect you to resolve complicated issues? You have to pay, of course. You must upgrade to have access to a person. But, if your upgrade fails to go through, you're apparently out of luck. Because I paid via Apple, my only recourse was to go to Apple and request a refund. I know everyone is trying to avoid paying for customer service staff, but sometimes there are issues that can only be resolved by talking to a person. Call me crazy, but it seems like that should still be an option. I later figured out that I didn't need the upgrade to use it on my laptop and, after this experience, I'm not interested in giving them my money in the future. :(
  • duplicate notes and sync issues sinking this app

I'm a longtime user and the app is becoming unusable. The whole point of this type of application is to be able to work seamlessly between computer and mobile device. However, the sync feature no longer works and I have scores of duplicate notes with no easy way to determine which one is most recent. I've also taken notes in recent months that just vanished. I am looking for a new solution. Evernote needs to get its act together.
  • Does not work with Apple Pencil

App does not fully support Apple Pencil2 and Ipad Pro. I need to constantly switch between my fingers and pencil to click on buttons and drawing. Very annoying, shows poor execution. I contacted customer support and asked me send a video???? This is pathetic, how does a video help them to understand that a button click does not work with Apple pencil and needs me to use my finger! Pathetic!
  • Evernote is Simple, Yet Dynamic

I have been using Evernote since 2011, and the updates over the years have made it so refreshing to use. Unlike Notion, which can seem overwhelming to people wanting to stay organized in a simple way, Evernote is very straight forward and integrates with so many apps!
  • Please! give us the option of turning off the icon on the menu bar!

The menu bar is sacred for me. I have just the things I need at a glace and Evernote is certainly not a thing I need over there. Please, other apps give you the option of turning it on and off.
  • Lost its way. Chasing dumb new features at the cost of stability.

I've been a paid Evernote user for going on a decade, and it's been central to my personal and business projects. I sometimes joke that there's enough of my brain in Evernote that it's about to become self-aware. Yet in the past couple years the platform has changed for the worse. Lots of features I don't care about creeping in, making everything more needlessly complex. Since the latest update the Mac app won't even launch. This is completely unacceptable for an app I'm paying for. With free tools you get what you get, but when I'm paying for this it needs to work! It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does need to function. Maybe stop chasing growth for growth's sake and actually take care of your users who are paying the bills. I'm looking for alternative apps now because it's just been too much of this bad experience for too long.
