  • Bad OOPs

    I liked this app until this week. I noticed an update on 4-10-2021. Coincidental? Transactions are downloading multiple times - each day. Not all, just some. If I delete them, they just reappear at next download. I clerly understand the whole merging process, but NO transactions will merge anymore. I can't get an accurate balance with bogus (duplicate) entries. Chat support is stumped. If this doesn't resolve, it's back to Quicke,.
  • Operates much like Quicken 2007

    I've been a classic-Quicken dinosaur. I kept reading about the horrors of switching to the new internet-version of Quicken, after Intuit sold it, so I delayed, and delayed, and .... I knew that one day I would have to find a different personal-finance app, but I was not very happy with the reviews of my choices. macOS 10.15 (Catalina) forced me into setting up a macOS 10.14.6 VM to run my old 32-bit version of Quicken 2007, which worked quite well ... for a while. Then the day came when I could not open my QDFM container. After some troubleshooting, I was able to delete a corrupted securities file in the container and proceed. However, I needed an alternative. I tried several of the recommended apps to experience some major issues, particularly with importing my QIF file. I started to think that my old version of Quicken was not creating a good QIF. Then I tried Bantkivity. The import worked flawlessly. I need to say the main difference in this app, from what I was used to, is in using a browser-based, single window, rather than the multiple account panes that Quicken and Quickbooks use. Otherwise, the look and mostly the feel of Bankivity is very familiar to me. Another noteworthy feature is that Banktivity has a help file that is actually useful. I don't think that I have seen another app with as readable and helpful of a help file. As a new user, I was up and running with very few questions to ask the support team, and the support team is very responsive and helpful. If you like the operability of the old Intuit Quicken, you will really like Banktivity. Don't hesitate to try it.
  • What a MESS!

    I am a long-term user of Banktivity. I had an excellent experience until I updated to version 8 in December 2020.Since that time my financial records have been in a mess. The application will not download transactions from my banks correctly. I paid more for my subscription than ever before, and I can get zero customer service that corrects the problem. The problem I’m having is complicated, and it involves three different banks. My banks tell me that the problem is with Banktivity. Banktivity tells me the problem is either with the banks or with me. Banktivity refuses to talk to me. They do not take phone calls. I have been dealing with this situation for so long, that now I cannot make heads or tails of my accounts. At this point the app is worse than unusable, it is damaging. The customer service for this app is horrendous. I wish I had never started using it. I don’t have time in my life right now to cope with this mess, and all I get from customer service is a demand for me to repeat stepsI have already taken countless times to fix the problems. If you haven’t started using this app, for gods sake stay away from it.
  • Banktivity 8 no longer syncs across devices

    After upgrading to Banktivity 8 on both Mac and iPhone the cloud sync stopped working and application on iPhone is total waste.
  • terrible direct access feature

    Direct access (the most important feature of any personal finance app) is mediocre. Using it for stock trading, it has serious issues with dividends, and even with regular buy/sell orders - it is pretty useless and one has to double check every import and manually adjust most of the time - completely useless. I just wished there is another finance app as I would be more than happy to toss this app into the garbage.

  • Frustratingly good and bad at the same time

    I have such a love-hate relationship with this app. It is undoubtedly the most full-featured Mac finance app. It is essential to me for that reason. On the other hand, it has so many problems that you seemingly just have to know about and tolerate. The worst is the ever-present danger of data loss. Actual, it’s not just a danger of data loss. It is the actual constant loss of data that the developers seem to believe is “normal” behavior. The two instances I most frequently run into are (1) transaction sync from Direct Access regularly deletes transactions and (2) when reconciliations sync from one machine to another, the reconciliations are regularly undone and transactions are lost. Credit card transactions are the worst. You can enter all sorts of details on a transaction, like categories, tags, payee name corrections, memo field data, etc. Then all of a sudden a few days later Banktivity Direct Access decides that it needs to ignore everything you entered and overwrite it all with data it has again downloaded from your financial institution. The developer provides readily accessible support via email and live chat, but the problem with that is that every single problem I have ever reported is greeted with the response, “Oh, that is a known issue.” Well? Do you plan to fix the “known issue”? To which the response is always, “Not sure. I’ll relay your concerns to the developers.” The company gives no sign that they care about improving actual deficiencies in the app. They just work along at their own course, deciding what problems are acceptable and what’s not. I’ve been using the app for 5 years and just have decided that using it is like walking on eggshells. So as long as you’re willing always to live with the fact that you’re going to have to go back to your account statements to regularly recreate transactions in Banktivity that it has decided suddenly to delete, then it’s a good program.
  • Continuing Problems

    While I like many of Banktivity's features, and I find the program useful, one continuing problem is the program's inability to correctly ammoratize a mortgage. I complained about two months ago and a ticket was created. I have followed up since then without response. The issue has to do with escrow payments. In the loan account set up, one can enter the current monthly principle and interest due on the first page. Then on the send page, one can enter the monthly escrow amount due. All looks good until direct access is run. Once that runs, the escrow is automatically added to the monthly principle and interest amount. In short, it will then show a higher payment being made then initially entered. Obviously, this throws off the ammortization. Monthly adjustments are needed to try and keep it on track. Highly annoying. I would be happy if IGG would confirm they are working on this. Instead, it is complete radio silence.

    I gave a second chance and paid for subscription but no way. Since they moved from iIbank to Banktivity there has been a steeply decline. No more way to sink anymore. Crash all the time. I have enough, no more. I trashed my money for the most expensive subscription app.
  • New Update (March 2021) Glitch

    Downloaded the new update and everything freezes. When you click on an icon, an account it freezes and the syncing completely stops it! Please fix it!
