Protect those around you and help build a safer world with the 2017 NFPA 70®: National Electrical Code! The NEC® is the benchmark for safe electrical design, installation, and inspection to protect people and property from electrical hazards. Revisions in the 2017 are easily identified – gray shading indicates technical changes, an “N” icon flags new Articles, text, tables and figures. Bullets show where paragraphs were deleted. The 2017 NEC includes the latest comprehensive regulations for wiring, overcurrent protection, grounding, and installation. Hundreds of updates and five all-new Articles pave the way to safer, more efficient electrical installations. Five first-time Articles include Energy Storage Systems (Article 706) and Direct Current Microgrids (Article 712). New detailed labeling for arc flash hazard warning on equipment protects workers. Revised provisions for AFCI and GFCI protection and other changes help improve electrical and fire safety.

  • App seems to have been abandoned

    By Paco_Bell
Does not work well on my iPad 12.9. Search covers up some of the results, and when you search for something, you can’t click on it to bring you to that section. Really makes using this app more of a hassle than using the book at this point.

Handy to have at your fingertips when needing to reference the most recent national electric code in the field.
  • Not up to Date

    By DrDirt69
Since the 2012 version I have relied on the NEC app for my acces to the Code. Apparently that is at an end since NFPA has not updated or released a new app for the 2020 version. It is hard to believe that in 2020 we have to go back to a printed code book or rely on a digital subscription that is not available in many job locations (tunnels, vaults, remote locations). NFPA, you can do better.
  • Missing

    By elec 325
The is totally missing the section Roman numerals @ each article its needs a app update
  • IPAD Menu Issues

    By mstrele
The top bar above the menu covers the menu in article 90 & 100 making sections un-selectable. It works on my IPhone just fine... This app needs an update...
  • Great App

I love it. I am an apprenticeship instructor online and this is perfect for looking up keywords etc. Don’t know what I would do without it.
  • Better and Faster Than The Book

    By Inspector-Gadget
For a chief electrical inspector, plans examiner, inspector, or an electrical contractor, this is much faster than having the actual code book. The search engine is awesome, for example; if you type in “GFCI” then every place in the code book that mentions GFCI will come up in a list. Just tap or go back until you find what you are looking for. You forgot which article is for Fire Pumps? Just type “fire pump” in the search field and there you have it! It’s that simple. I have been using the iPhone NEC for years now, even for plan review in the office. It is absolutely the best code book in the field too. On my iPhone right now is the 2011, 2014, 2017, and I will absolutely buy the 2020 as soon as it comes out in the App Store.
  • Needs 12.9 iPad update

    By JTUberGeek
Just purchased this on my iPad Pro 12.9 and the bar at the top covers the top three menus options so you can’t click on them, fix that and I will change my rating.

No table of contents and no index. Get rid of advertising as well.
  • Electricians Must Have

Having my prints already on an iPad makes having the NEC App very convenient. Search engine makes looking for articles a quick and relative easy process. I’d make it 5 stars if hardbook issue was made
