  • NOLA

    Outstanding guide.
  • Disappointed

    By dancecheerluv
I’ve had this app for a long time, to only now discover a pay wall. It made sense to purchase the extra services but not to simple browse. No one is traveling right now during the global pandemic guess they have to make money someone. Ridiculous.
  • iPad version?

    By Snoring Bulldog
I subscribed today for one year. Then installed your app on my iPad to discover it is the iPhone one. So small resolution and even making it bigger looks so horrible. C’mon Lonely Planet! Adapting your app for the iPad should be a pretty straightforward move. How can you sell a multimedia experience based only on a phone screen? Five stars will follow when ai will se the iPad version.
  • Should be

Should be Sold piece meal. The subscription is laughable. I went to check a place out to have it tell me I’m gonna get a mighty discount! Gee thanks. Will use another app, thanks.

  • Online subscription vs app subscription

    By Baylen b
I loved using this while in Spain very useful for only $5.... now looking to plan a trip again and Just bought this it’s not that expensive HOWEVER going onto the website i was disappointed to see the same 12 month subscription going for $15 versus the $40 i paid just last night. Would love an explanation of the difference. Also how do i order the “free” with paid shipping book?
  • Goodbye Lonely Planet

    By 1800LuvWeed
As a long time customer of Lonely Planet printed guides, I used this app for local planning while I travel. But now it’s an exorbitant ripoff. I’ll just resort to using TripAdvisor or Fodors or Frommers. Uninstalling now...
  • Just not user friendly

    By readntime
Lonely Planet has always been my “go to” guide, so I downloaded the app. I am disappointed. The print guides are easy to read and find the desired information, organized in a logical manner, and everything within is useful. They are good value. Their app is just not user friendly. To get to anything requires a much bigger investment than buying one of their guides. I can understand they cannot give away their intellectual product, but the user must first get enough information to feel the cost will bring them value. Similar to buying their books. For example, I am in a book store and am interested in a guide book on Mexico City. I first look at the books by different authors/providers. I read front and back covers, the types of information offered, the price points of restaurant and lodging information and how they organize it, and compare the price of the two or three books I like best, etc. I am not interested in buying books at this time on every place in the world. I will buy a book about another place when I get ready to go there. A similar online approach is what I expected. Give me an overview of Mexico City, climate, when to go, etc. If I still think I want to go to Mexico City, then give me an online price (similar to the book price) and for that purchase an interactive version of what would be in the print book I will probably continue to get their guide books, as I love them, but this app, for me, is not practical, user friendly, or good value. I don’t care to pay a higher cost yearly for access to the world, just a reasonable price for the info on the place I want to go today. Next year i will again pay for information on a different place. None of that yearly fee at a higher price because I get info on the world. No value there for me.
  • Good layout but pricey

App layout is very good but gets pricey if you want more than a month. App is iPhone only even though it shows up as an iPad app.
