  • Awesome game just too little stamina

I love the game, but it is too hard to level up with such a small amount of stamina if there was more this game would be perfect, other than that this game is awesome and I don’t plan on quitting anytime soon, and it isn’t very much into pay to win it actually just speeds up your progress if you do pay but anything you buy with money you can get just by farming even if you have a low amount of stamina you just take a little bit longer than the rest to get it

Both good and BAD... I’d like to say that the game is fun and can be quite addicting to play. Seems to be pretty well thought out, so I give you thumbs up for that. HOWEVER, I would strongly suggest NOT spending your hard earned money. I will admit, It will be very tempting and it will help build your strength in the game by doing so. So if you decide you must, be prepared that if anything happens to “hurt” or slow your progress (and it will!) the support team will do nothing to make it right. After waiting for several days for a response, you will be told “we are unable to assist or process your request, we thank you for your understanding in the matter”. No matter how much the game glitches, the support team WONT make it right. To make it right would make it fair and they’re not interested in making it fair. This after you give all the details to make it clear about the problem. They will disregard you and your requests. Clearly not caring about their paying players. So as long as you can accept that... go play and spend money. You’ll also be encouraged to be an “ambassador” which is recruiting other players. In exchange they will give you a 1000 gems for each new player that you invite at the end of the month. Guess again.... they will maybe give you credit for 1 player, no matter how many you invite and they actually play. Also, previously it was pretty tough to earn the events master and ultra rare heroes BUT they keep changing how you earn the master and ultra heroes. Now making it next to impossible to earn them without spending anywhere from 10k-20k gems. Which you’d have to spend probably $50-$100 per month to get that. Minimum. So good luck.
  • Yippee... Another Puzzle Game...

This lazy scheme-of-things is getting old. I mean, really. Get some original ideas for once. The first actually good puzzle-fighting game on the App Store was Puzzles & Dragons. That one game had me at "hello". Hell, it even had a 3DS version that was a two-in-one game (both a Mario version and a story mode version of the original one) It was cute and really stood out at the time. But now it's been a real fat minute. Right now, the number of copycats is outrageous and the concept gets dumber as it goes. Best Fiends was kind of alright. But this game is not alright. From the overcomplicated parts to the stupidly advertised parts, this game dug a grave the second it hit up people. My least favorite thing is the advertisements for the game. You paid some people to talk up your game, and it's depressing. One of them compared this trash heap to Magic. Someone who looked like a hippie version of Arin from Game Grumps, said, and I quote, "ACTUALLY, SCREW NINTENDO SWITCH. I'M MORE INVESTED IN THIS MOBILE GAME!" ... Are you actually kidding me? A hippie would rather play this than Smash Ultimate?! A game that doesn't overdo its own ad campaign?! Really? Actually, screw hippies, they deserve minivans, Rolling Stones, and LSD, nothing else. Fix yourself, devs. Along with your game.

When I started it was a lot of fun. Now they have made it impossible to compete free to play. If you aren’t VIP you don’t get special missions each event and about half the rewards.
  • Great game, terrible monetization

There’s really a lot of interesting gameplay potential behind the event structure and the guild system, which adds plenty of progression and changes things up from being a simple match 3 game. Each week everyone is incentivized to collect certain niche cards that are advantageous to the event, and your main interaction with online players is the ability to “borrow” one of their heroes as a 6th slot in your roster, which you can freely thank them for by having the game give them a special honor currency. But let’s talk about the giant bank breaking elephant in the room. This game has extortionate and predatory pricing. It constantly reminds you of how much of a disadvantage you are at if you don’t want to fork over 30 dollars per month for a mobile game. Not per year. Per month. And even if you do fork over that cash, they still will try to get you to pay more. Even if you don’t buy the subscription, any micro transactions you take part in level up your “vip” rank which essentially upgrades the benefits you would get from subscribing to that 30 dollar per month vip program. Looking at the rewards for the event quests you completed so far? Half the page is dedicated to showing just how much more you would earn from quests by spending that money. It’s an addictive game with a lot of good going on, but this is not for the weak willed. The skinner boxes are strong. Instead of functioning as a way to incentivize checking in now and then while letting you live your life, the limited play system involving stamina points and event keys bank on you obsessively making sure you aren’t wasting your resources, all the while wondering if it would be more manageable if you would just pay 30 dollars per month. If you are looking for a game that you can safely enjoy for less than 40 dollars one time purchase, this is not the game for you. Do not purchase if you have a weakness towards micro transactions or this game will devastate you. I could understand a mobile game pressuring 10 dollars per month to keep the lights on but this game is just nuts with its price point and how much it pushes it on you. Truly a great game. The pricing model is just 5-10x more aggressive than it should be. **note: it is technically listed as 29.99 per month in game but you get the point.

In concept and gameplay the original design far surpasses all other match 3 gem type mobile games. Unfortunately it’s badly managed by a company with little or no vision to see it move past its original state of being. Most “major updates” are really repairs to the game itself. These updates are driven by angry customers boycotting, quitting or complaining because the game is either not playable, or not worth playing. The rest of the updates seem to be purely the redistribution of resources, and how they’re earned. Meanwhile the music/audio, maps, levels, etc etc. have never been changed. In short it’s still 1.0 that does more damage. It’s such a shame.

The game is ok but if you want strength of any kind in the game it’s going to cost you around 100.00 a week plus a 30.00 a month VIP membership. After this event, I decided I’m going to go ahead and uninstall the app. It makes me sad for I have been a strong player for 2 years now. When 3.0 came out with Ultra cards and Merges, the game got way more expensive. Before you owned just a master card for each event, you were strong and was more helpful to your guild. 400 a month is too rich for my blood. Go back down to 2.0 and we’ll talk.

After spending $100’s on this game. Im sad to say I no longer trust this company. Gems of War is a much better choice for this type of game play. Please read all reviews sorted by ( most recent ) to get many different reasons for why you should skip this game.

Good game but gets aggravating when you are in the middle of a battle and a window pops up saying can’t connect to server and you lose all your keys as can’t continue with the battle you was in
